The palette of coherent structures in nonlinear media is very rich extending from the classic 1D ones like pulses, fronts, kinks, breathers, (dark/bright) solitons, to higher-dimensional ones like vortices, vortex rings and knots, spiral waves and more exotic ones like skyrmions and monopoles.
